What You Can Expect
Take a private overnight camping excursion to the summit of Mt. Batur to see Bali from above. The volcanic peak is the second highest point on the island, rising 1,717 meters above sea level. Spend the night at the peak under a blanket of stars to make the most of the experience by hiking in the mountains.
Day 1:
- Travel to the settlement of Toya Bungkah on Mount Batur in the late afternoon, at 12:30 PM. Depending on the number of hikers and their physical condition, the hike should last around 2 hours. After that, when you are 1,500 meters above sea level, pitch your tents. A magnificent sunset may be seen atop Mount Batur at around 18:00 by taking a short 14–20 minute trek to the peak.
- Enjoy a basic dinner with hot Balinese coffee and tea (usually banana cooked in the volcano’s steam). After that, head back to camp to prepare supper and build a campfire where you can relax and sample some Brem and Arak Bali wines from the area. As you toast the day’s conclusion, make a wish for clear sky so you can view the moon, stars, and a spectacular dawn the next day.
Day 2:
- Get up early to climb a mountain and see the dawn. Before the early-morning visitors arrive, gather all of your camping equipment. While you watch the stunning hues of purple, orange, pink, and red emerge in the sky, a porter will be on hand to take care of the equipment. Be amazed as the clouds disappear and then reappear as a result of temperature fluctuations brought on by the rising sun. As the day begins, enjoy sweeping views of the ocean in the distance.
- On a clear day, Mt. Rinjani on the neighboring island of Lombok is clearly seen. After that, take a trip to the volcano’s 3 major craters to view some of the most recent black lava flow. Finish in Batur’s natural hot springs, where you may unwind and revitalize your spirit with the aid of Mother Nature.
